Get involved

With your help we can do so much more!

Funding cuts have had a profound effect on the ability of charities to deliver services. The community of Britwell and surrounding areas rely heavily on our organisation as we are the only youth provisioning on the Britwell Estate.

Our goal is to create a diversified partnership funding model to achieve our aims; working across the public, private and voluntary sectors for the benefit of young people. You can be part of this long-term plan to invest in the future of BYCP in many ways including:

  • contributing funding either to a specific activity or to the core costs of running BYCP

  • volunteering to support BYCP either in the Youth Club or help with the core task of running the organisation (e.g. administration or organising skills)

  • new Trustees to serve on our Board, including Trustees with skills in fundraising and writing funding applications, promotion and PR, legal knowledge, or Health & Safety

  • getting involved in fundraising events and challenges

  • providing in-kind support, for example if your business supplies equipment or material we can use in activities for young people or in running BYCP.

Become a Trustee

Trustees come from all walks of life, ages and backgrounds: professionals, parents, retirees, students etc. A trustee of BYCP can be anyone who is enthusiastic about our work for young people and committed to making a difference to them. BYCP Trustees are responsible for making sure the charity is well-managed and delivers what it was set up to do.

Remember:

  • It’s a voluntary role – you won’t get paid but expenses are available.

  • It can be challenging – you’ll need to commit time and effort, including attending meetings, taking an interest, actively supporting BYCP and acting as an ambassador for us within your own networks.

  • You're guaranteed to find it hugely rewarding and worthwhile!

Volunteering

Volunteers are the backbone of our communities, especially when it comes to providing youth provisioning. Volunteers enable activities to take place which would otherwise not happen because of lack of funding. Volunteering also offers great opportunities for people to gain new skills and experience and build personal confidence.

BYCP works to ensure that our volunteers are high quality and committed individuals who can provide young people across the county with; ‘somewhere to go’, ‘something to do’ and ‘someone to talk to’. In this way, we offer routes into volunteering for young people as well.

Our volunteers come to us from all walks of life, from those who have been involved with us for decades through their connections with BYCP, to young people who are looking to enhance their skills. Some volunteers respond to our campaigns and others just feel passionately about supporting children and young people. Others just want to meet new people or just want to have fun!

We understand that each one of you chooses to give us your time for different reasons and we will work hard to ensure those motivations continue to be met. We want every one of you to get the maximum benefit out of your time with us because we never forget that every one of you is absolutely vital to our work.

Corporate

Helping young people lead a better life

A full program of evening and holiday activities is running with 6962 young people attending evening activities and 1121 young people attending during the school holiday sessions throughout the year. This helps build confidence and lead more active and healthy lifestyles and learn new skills.

We also offer courses for the young people. In February 2017 and November 2017, we offered Introduction to Leadership Skills, with a total of 37 young people attending their qualification. In May 2018, we offered a Level One Open College Network Leadership Qualification, with 13 young people achieving a qualification.
